Coming Out in Prose: Reflections on Pilgrim of the Sky, 10 Years Later
The truth is, I came out in prose before I came out in person. My debut novel, Pilgrim of the Sky, published in late 2011, is best described as mythpunk. The main players in the tale are all facets of god analogues–godlings, as they’re called in the book–searching for answers, plotting revenge and mayhem, and of course, falling in love. Maddie Angler, the heroine, begins her tale in Western Massachusetts (where I grew up) but quickly escapes into a mirror world of her own where people she knows and love might look the same, but certainly are not. There are obvious shades of me in Maddie (her love of art…

Pilgrim of the Sky is up for Pre-Order!
That’s right, folks! Pilgrim of the Sky, my debut novel, is back at it again. Which totally makes sense if you’re familiar with the godlings. They get reborn again and again. The official release is on Thursday, September 22, but if you order the ebook now, you get $2 off. It’s particularly exciting to see the new cover because it’s a perfect companion to Gods of Londinium, which will be out this December. And let me tell you, I cannot wait to share Joss’s whole story with you. Gods of Londinium may take place on a single world, but it uses just about every inch. It’s high adventure on the…

PILGRIM OF THE SKY Returns September 22, 2022
It’s a fortuitous day for my fellow Lord of the Rings fans. But yes! After ten years, I’m re-releasing Pilgrim of the Sky in advance of Gods of Londinium (which is landing this December). The new edition has some significant edits as well as a bridge scene between the books, connecting Maddie’s story directly to Joss’s. While they are direct sequels, they are certainly companion novels, and their covers both reflect the same aesthetic now, as well. Keep an eye out for preorder links soon!

Pilgrim of the Sky: Live – The Whole Playlist
In case you’ve missed my incessant trumpeting online, I’ve been reading my novel, Pilgrim of the Sky, since the beginning of February. We’re about halfway through, but it’s not too late if you haven’t had a chance to catch up. You see, there’s a handy playlist here. I’ll be providing audio only files in a little, but for now (if you don’t want to see my mug) you can always just hit play and minimize the window. And if you’re listening along and can’t wait for the next chapter, remember you can always get a copy here, over at Candlemark & Gleam (starting at $5.00!).

Behold! The Book Trailer for Pilgrim of the Sky (and Audio Coming Soon!)
I’d wanted to do a book trailer for Pilgrim for quite some time, but when the book came out I was pregnant and a total mess. Personal life aside, it may be a few years after the fact but hey! It’s still my book. I’m still totally proud of it. And I have this live reading I’m doing, so it’s still good timing. I had a blast putting it together, and the fact that I was able to incorporate Brigid’s amazing artwork and my sister’s phenomenal music… even better. And don’t forget, you can catch the whole playlist, too. That’s five chapters! Keep an eye out for the audio files, too! For…

Pilgrim of the Sky — Live! Chapters 1-3 on YouTube
Just a quick note to say that chapters 1-3 of Pilgrim of the Sky are now up at my YouTube page. Expect the audio only files a little later this week. I’m having a blast doing the reading, and it’s been a great opportunity to revisit the book. Stay tuned for the whole story!

Watch Pilgrim of the Sky Unfold Live and in Person in the Month of February!
Having just finished Watcher of the Skies, and considering that its predecessor (I won’t say prequel–because technically the second book is a prequel… and a follow up, but not a sequel…) is a little more than two years old, I thought I’d be a little daring. I was supposed to record an audiobook of Pilgrim of the Sky. But then I got pregnant. And recording an audiobook with a baby just doesn’t work. I felt awful, and have been thinking of ways to make it up ever since. Then it occurred to me. Why not do it LIVE? So. I am. I’ve recorded the first chapter as a bit of a teaser, and starting next…

And that’s that. Farewell, NaNoWriMo 2012.
Even though I honestly had no intention of doing NaNoWriMo, as of this evening it appears I have “won” said writing frenzy. I have brought Joss Raddick from a little tadpole of a man to a Kraken. He is currently on an island, about to enter a Synod with a few other godlings, and he has a big wedge of iron lodged in his skull. He went on a rampage as a Kraken, he met another crazy Kraken, he sired a poet, and he was swindled more than once. He also made some friends. And more than anything, I’ve had such pleasure writing this. Joss has always been one of my…

Watcher of the Skies and Thoughts on NaNoWriMo
So, my last post really did make it sound like I wasn’t doing NaNoWriMo, mostly likely. And apparently that’s the thing that got me going. Or something. I’m not going to try and explain it in too much details, but it goes something like this. I screwed up my back. I had to take medicine. I found out my kid does, in fact, have Asperger’s. My brain was mushy, I was in need of escape in the form of writing therapy that wasn’t going to require much editing (see: medicine), and my best friend Karen started talking to me about Joss Raddick. Readers of Pilgrim of the Sky know Mr.…

More Pilgrim of the Sky Reviews!
I’ve been very behind in providing reviews for Pilgrim of the Sky — mostly due to being insanely busy and preparing to bring the new little creature into the world (9 weeks to go, for those who are counting). However, I am grateful and thrilled that so many people have connected with the book, and offer here a few choice bits for you to read: From Chuck Lawton at GeekDad (whose band The Vitrolum Republic you should check out, not to mention the project of his wife, Sue, The Circus and the Cyclone): The novel is grand in scope, rich in description and full of wonderful discovery. It will take you from…
